Introduction

Dear friend, I am grateful that you are taking your precious time reading this blog. I completely understand how much confusion there is in the context of postpartum depression.

Postpartum depression affects many new mothers around the world and can be a difficult condition to cope with. Fortunately, there are alternative treatments available for postpartum depression that do not involve medicine. This blog will explore one such treatment option: 45 days postpartum depression treatment without medicine.

If you have delivered a newly born baby, I congratulate you and pray for both of your wellbeing. This blog will definitely help you to take care of mental health and emotional health post pregnancy.

If you are someone who wants to help your near and dear one to overcome PPD, then you have come to the right place.

What is Postpartum depression?

Let me clarify to you that postpartum depression is not a disease. In most of my blogs I have made this statement that depression is just a condition and not a disease.

Therefore do not put your mind into any overthinking. Yes it is true that the internet is full of overwhelming information. However, I want you to relax. I am here to guide you. I have spent 25+ years of my life supporting people. So I assure you that you are in safe hands.

PPD or postpartum depression is just a condition that affects new mothers after giving birth. It is a type of depression that occurs due to hormonal changes, stress, and fatigue associated with childbirth.

Women who suffer from PPD often experience sadness, lack of energy, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, and loss of interest in activities they previously enjoyed. In severe cases, PPD may lead to suicidal thoughts. But do not worry. I am going to give you everything that will help you to come out of PPD.

Overcoming postpartum depression without medicine may seem like a challenge at first. But accepting a challenge is like going on an adventure trip. Challenge does not mean that it is impossible.

If you feel that you are entering into PPD then it is best to seek support from family members or friends. If there is no one then I suggest you join an online depression forum and you will find the necessary help.

You may also ask your friend or family member to help with daily tasks like cooking or cleaning the house. Engaging in physical activity such as walking or doing yoga can also help reduce symptoms of postpartum depression.

Another effective way to overcome PPD without medication is using tools like music therapy and positive affirmations. Talking to a mental health professional about your feelings and experiences can provide you with coping mechanisms and emotional support that are essential for recovery.

Additionally, joining support groups for mothers who have experienced PPD can also be helpful as it provides an opportunity for women to share their stories and receive encouragement from others going through similar challenges.

Now friend, let us understand the causes of PPD.

Causes of PPD

As I have mentioned earlier, primary causes of PPD include hormonal changes after childbirth, lack of sleep, stress, and feelings of isolation or loneliness. Women who have a history of depression or anxiety are also more likely to experience postpartum depression.

Another possible cause of PPD is the significant life changes that come with having a baby. New mothers may feel overwhelmed by the sudden shift in their daily routine and responsibilities. They may struggle with adjusting to their new role as a mother and coping with the demands of caring for an infant.

Finally, social support can play a critical role in preventing or exacerbating postpartum depression. Women who lack emotional support from family members, friends, or partners may be at higher risk for developing PPD.

The stigma surrounding mental health issues can also make it difficult for women to seek help and receive appropriate treatment if they do experience symptoms of postpartum depression.

So, friend, now you know what postpartum depression is and what are the causes of postpartum depression. Let us move forward to understand the entire treatment for postpartum depression.

Music Therapy

45 days PPD Treatment without Medicine

Generally after 3-4 days of delivery depending on the condition, the mother may experience baby blues. This goes away on its own within 15-20 days. However, in few cases it is prolonged and that is where one enters into postpartum depression.

Sometimes PPD is prolonged for 4 to 6 weeks depending on the mother’s mental health, emotional health, social health and financial health. Therefore, I recommend 45 days PPD treatment.

It is good that you start your PPD treatment from the next day you deliver the baby. This will help you to not just protect your mental and emotional health, but also it will have a positive impact on your child.

Remember, when the mother is aligned mentally and emotionally the baby feels this vibration and the baby also gets aligned. When you are at peace your baby will be at peace. So taking care of yourself indirectly takes care of your baby.

Now let us proceed with 4 steps for PPD treatment without medicine.

Step 1 - Alignment of emotions

Emotions play a major role. If the mood is down then negative emotions will dominate the mind, heart and body. Baby feels your negative emotions instantly. Vibrationally babies are very sensitive and open to receive anything and everything that comes from their mother.

Therefore you must align your emotions right when you walk up in the morning. The fastest way to align your emotions is listening to some soothing instrumental music. Music therapy comes very handy in this case.

Music therapy has been shown to be effective in treating postpartum depression without medication. Music has the ability to affect our emotions and can help alleviate feelings of stress, anxiety, and sadness. Studies have shown that listening to music can reduce symptoms of depression, improve mood, and increase relaxation.

So the first step is to take care of your emotions as soon as you wake up in the morning. The next step is about your body.

Step 2 - Taking care of body

Your physical body also needs to be taken care of. Stretching your body within every 2-3 hours will vitalise your body to protect against fatigue and tiredness. With that you can start with light exercises and simple yoga.

At body level you also need to take care of your diet. One of the most effective ways to improve mental health and wellbeing, especially after experiencing postpartum depression is through a combination of diet and exercise.

Eating a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains can help provide the necessary nutrients for optimal brain function. Regular exercise also helps to release endorphins - natural mood-boosting chemicals in the body.

While it can be challenging to find time to exercise as a new mother, however, as I mentioned earlier, incorporating simple activities like stretching, walking or yoga into your routine can have significant benefits for both physical and mental health. These low-impact exercises are easy on the body while still providing cardiovascular benefits and stress relief.

In addition to improving overall wellbeing, making healthy choices with food and exercise can also serve as positive coping mechanisms during times of stress or anxiety. By taking care of your body, you are also taking care of your mind - which is essential for maintaining good mental health over time.

Now let us go further into the third step on taking care of your mind.

Step 3 - Protecting your mind

The way the body and emotions are important, you also have to understand that the mind is very important. Mind plays a big role. Do you know that humans are bombarded with 60,000 thoughts daily? Out of which the human conscious mind perceives 2000 thoughts while other thoughts directly go to the subconscious mind.

Therefore protecting your mind is your priority. In depression, the majority of the thoughts are negative in nature. Negative thoughts will keep you rooted in depression and therefore on a daily basis one needs to protect the mind to come out of depression.

The best way to protect the mind is by listening to positive affirmations. It directly impacts both the conscious and subconscious mind and begins the process of replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.

Another powerful way is writing affirmations while listening to them. Writing affirmations has a direct impact on the subconscious mind. 58,000 thoughts are not perceived by the conscious mind and are directly perceived by the subconscious mind. With writing affirmations, one trains the subconscious mind to filter out the negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts.

Hence, in addition to music therapy as mentioned in Step 1, positive affirmations are helpful for new mothers experiencing postpartum depression. Affirmations are basically statements that focus on positivity and self-empowerment.

By repeating positive affirmations daily, new mothers can change negative thought patterns into more positive ones. This practice can help improve self-esteem, reduce stress levels, and promote emotional wellbeing.

Next step you must read more carefully because all 4 steps are essential if you really want to protect yourself from PPD or if you really come out of PPD.

Step 4 - Sleep and Relaxation

Post delivery your sleep cycle will be disturbed. Baby wakes up anytime. You have to feed the baby in various timings as per the baby’s need. This is where if you have a good partner or a good family or social support, then you can easily bring balance in your sleep and get relaxed.

Always remember that getting enough sleep and relaxation is essential for our physical and mental wellbeing. It's even more important when dealing with postpartum depression (PPD).

PPD affects up to 20% of new mothers, and it can lead to feelings of sadness, hopelessness, guilt, and fatigue. Sleep deprivation can exacerbate these symptoms, making it harder to cope with everyday life.

To help combat PPD without medication, new mothers should prioritise getting enough sleep. This means taking naps during the day while the baby is sleeping or asking for help from a partner or family member to get some uninterrupted rest at night. Relaxation techniques such as deep breathing exercises or guided meditation can also be beneficial in reducing stress levels.

In addition to prioritising sleep and relaxation time, new mothers should also make sure they are eating a balanced diet rich in nutrients that support mental health.

Foods like salmon, leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains contain essential vitamins and minerals that contribute to improved mood and overall wellbeing. By focusing on these aspects of self-care, new moms can start their journey towards healing from PPD without relying solely on medication.

Now you have all the necessary 4 steps to come out of postpartum depression. Make sure that once you begin to work on these 4 steps, continue it for at least 45 days.

Also I want to quickly share with you that while medication may be necessary for some cases of postpartum depression, non-pharmacological approaches like music therapy and positive affirmations offer a natural alternative that can be highly effective in the treatment of this condition.

Support System

Your basic understanding regarding PPD has been clarified above. It is time for you to know that a support system is crucial for anyone going through a difficult time, especially those who are dealing with postpartum depression.

When trying to recover from this condition without the use of medication, having people around who can provide emotional and practical assistance can make all the difference. This could include partners, family members, friends, or even mental health professionals.

Now this is my suggestion for all those who want to support someone during PPD. One way that a support system can be helpful for someone with postpartum depression is by providing a listening ear.

Sometimes simply being able to talk about one's feelings and experiences can be incredibly therapeutic. A supportive person may also be able to offer validation and encouragement when things feel overwhelming or challenging.

Additionally, practical support such as help with childcare or household tasks can take some of the pressure off of someone dealing with postpartum depression. This allows them to focus on their own self-care and recovery without feeling guilty or overwhelmed by other responsibilities.

Ultimately, building a strong support system is an important part of healing from postpartum depression without medication.
